“The Jet” Jamie Lathroum Set To Invade Georgetown Speedway Friday Night

Story By: BRETT DEYO / GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY – GEORGETOWN, DE – A “Jet” will land at Georgetown Speedway on Friday night.

This particular ‘Jet’ comes in the form of popular Maryland Super Late Model talent Jamie Lathroum, who will cross the Bay Bridge in search of a $3,500 payday in the 35-lap ‘Clash for Cash’ event at the Sussex County half-mile oval. Super Late Models make their first Georgetown appearance of the season on Friday.

Lathroum, of Mechanicsville, Md., is no stranger to high-profile victories. He’s taken checkered flags on both national circuits, winning with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series.

This Friday night, the 39-year-old Lathroum will be at the wheel of the Sommey and Ruth Ann Lacey-owned No. 45.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Georgetown,” offered Lathroum, who plans to chase the entire ‘Clash for Cash’ series.

The ‘Clash for Cash’ is a series of races put together by the promotional teams at Georgetown, Potomac Speedway in Budd’s Creek, Md., Winchester (Va.) Speedway, Bedford (Pa.) Speedway, Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del.

Each race offers a lucrative pay structure and all tracks worked together to schedule without conflicting dates.

The top-five drivers at the end of the series in the standings with perfect attendance will receive point fund cash.

The Georgetown event will offer $350 just to take the green flag.

A stout local field is expected to challenge invaders from across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge chasing the ‘Clash for Cash’ top prize.

Joining the Super Late Models on the docket are the RUSH Late Models paying $1,000 to the winner for 20 laps, plus features-only for Delaware Super Trucks, Delmarva Chargers, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars and Little Lincolns.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:45 p.m. Race time is 7:30 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16. Kids ages 9-12 pay $10. Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids ages 6-12 pay $10. Children 5 and under pay $2.
