Poker Series Returns To Bridgeport Speedway This Sunday

Story By: KOLBY RAMEY / BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY – SWEDESBORO, NJ – The 2018 811 Dig Safe Poker Series returns to the Bridgeport Speedway this Sunday, July 1st for the second hand of this year’s competition. The 5/8th mile speedway will host a 4×4 Misfits Show on Saturday with racing moving to Sunday prior to the Fourth of July Holiday for the running of the All American 40.

Going into the second hand of this year’s competition, race winners, Ryan Watt, Adam McAuliffe and Rich Stinson, Jr. each hold an Ace in their Poker hands. By virtue of their pre-season point championships on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8th mile track at Bridgeport, Jeff Strunk, Tommy Sheetz, Sr. and Jeramy Doerr will also start the second hand of the competition with an Ace.

Watt was the race winner on opening weekend when he capture the 60 Over Special – Doug Hoffman Memorial race. Invader, Adam McAuliffe traveled from his home in New York to compete and pick up his first ever Bridgeport victory. Rich Stinson, Jr. took over the driving chores of his dad’s No. 27 for the opening day win.

Jeff Strunk and the Hyneman No. 126 were unstoppable, picking up two early season wins on the new racing surface. Sheetz won his pre-season title based upon his consistent finishes in both events when the third race was cancelled due to weather. Jeramy Doerr was the first and only Outlaw Stock feature winner on the 3/8th mile track.

The Poker Series events are scheduled on non-regular race days to allow competitors from throughout the Northeast to compete. The Poker Series was brought to the Bridgeport Speedway during the 2012 season when Doug Hoffman became the race promoter at a track that was his Saturday night home for many seasons during his racing career.

Colonial Pipeline returns as the sponsor of the Poker Series for the third season. Colonial Pipeline asks that you call 8-1-1 before you dig. It’s important to always call 8-1-1 before you begin any digging project, no matter how large or small. Just dial 8-1-1 a few days before beginning to notify your local one-call center of your intent to dig. A representative from your local one-call center will ask for your location and description of your digging project. They will then notify all of the affected utility companies who will send a professional locator to the proposed dig site to mark the approximate location of your underground lines. It’s simple. It’s free and it’s the law.

Premio Foods will offer a Buy 1, Get 1 FREE Sausage Sandwich as the official sausage of the Bridgeport Speedway. There will be a Sausage eating contest with $100 going to the winner. Anyone wearing a Martz Motorsports No. 3 shirt will receive a free sausage sandwich, courtesy of Premio Foods.

Pit gates open at 4pm with grandstands opening one hour later at 5. Racing gets underway at 7pm. General admission is $25, kids 10-15 are $10 and children 9 and under are admitted free.
