Great Racing, Chicken BBQ & Fireworks Highlight Friday At Accord Speedway

Story By: STEVE PADOS / ACCORD SPEEDWAY – ACCORD, NY – The Accord Speedway has set the plate and the stage for this coming Friday evening, June 29th, to usher in a full compliment of exciting events to their pristine racing facility.

Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer and staff have worked overtime and then some to prepare for one of the biggest nights of the season on the Accord Speedway schedule. When the gates of the speedway swing open on Friday afternoon, the Emmanuel’s Marketplace sponsored event; (www.emmanuelsmarketplace.com) will find the first order of business for the fans is to double time their way for the concession area to partake in the “famous” Chicken BBQ with all of the “fixins” After partaking of the great entrees, an “electric slide” to the left will offer up all of the great dessert items from Emma’s Sweets and Treats with ice cream sundaes, shakes and floats and much more to satisfy one’s sweet tooth.

Included with this spectacular event will be a bike raffle for kids, rides through the pits for kids and the speedway will be offering up some tickets for the July 3rd “Bullring” event.

Once the appetites are satiated, an exciting six division racing card will greet the fans. No one ever knows what to expect at the “Gem in the Catskills” speedplant and the racing action thus far in 2018 has produced many different winners among the divisions through the first nine shows. Eight different winners in the Insinger Fuels Modified division, five in the Arkel Motors Sportsman, five in the Upstate Auto Pure Stocks, seven in the WRWD Radio Rokkies, five in the Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinders and three in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Cars bear solid proof the racers have to be on their “A-Game” to secure a win at the quicken the pulse speedway and please make note of the fact none of the divisions are a “give me” at this stage of the racing season. The racing will commence with heat racing and hopefully a couple of feature events will be run off before the lights go out on the speedway.

Once the speedway is completely dark, the experts at Santore’s Famous Fireworks will take over the skies high above the speedway grounds. With eighty years of community service as their back-drop for the event, Santore’s, through phone conversations, promises to light up the Catskills skies like no other show before it has ever done. The flash, the fire, the kabooms, the turning of the night-time into day and the constant ooh’s and aah’s from the appreciative crowd will make for a spectacular memorable light show at Accord and an evening the racing fans will chat about for some time. After the lights are returned to full power, the remainder of the feature events will be completed.

Spectator gates will open at 5:30 PM. Hot laps begin at 7 PM and the first heat rolls out on the speedway at 7:30 PM. Special Show Admission: Adults $16 – Seniors $14 – Kids $3 (age 11 and under) Outdoor Reserved $18-Indoor Reserved $22
