Tony Stewart Nabs Fifth With All Stars During Inaugural Buckeye Cup At Sharon

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Tony Stewart’s decision to join the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 during the inaugural “Buckeye Cup” at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, May 5, proved to be well worth the travel, bettering most of the 43 entries signed-in to do battle at the state-of-the-art, 3/8-mile dirt oval by finishing fifth during the 30-lap main event.

For Stewart, the top-five performance increased his season total to nine, also bumping his season top-ten total to 12.

Tony Stewart kicked-off his evening at Sharon Speedway by recording the fourth fastest time during his respective group of qualifying time trials. Smoke’s qualifying effort placed the Columbus, Ind., native on the pole of a heat race, ultimately dominating all eight laps. By way of dash result, finishing second during the first of two All Star dashes, Stewart was able start on the inside of row two for the inaugural “Buckeye Cup” main event.

After fading slightly due to contact with the turn two guardrail, Stewart recovered in a hurry, working his way back inside the top-five before crossing under the final checkers behind Parker Price-Miller, Jac Haudenschild, Carson Macedo, and winner, Aaron Reutzel.

“It ended up being a pretty good night for our team,” Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car. “I’m not sure if anyone was going to catch Aaron (Reutzel). Congrats to those guys. They were close a few times this year, so I’m happy to see them get an All Star win. The All Stars have a talented group of drivers following the schedule this year. Earning a top-five against that level of talent is always a good result.”

Tony Stewart’s upcoming schedule will be determined in the coming days. Please stay tuned for further details.
