Cory Winters & Tim Hegarty Claim Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour Checkers At Mohawk
Story By: JEFF CIGLICH / DIRT MODIFIED NOSTALGIA TOUR – HOGANSBURG, NY – The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour kicked off 2018 this past Friday night at the Mohawk International Raceway. Late addition Cory Winters of Finch, Ont rolled to the win in the Modified class while Tim Hegarty of Kingston, Ont began his Nostalgia division title defense in style picking up the win.
The feature go would see Winters power to the lead by virtue of his heat race win. He would build a comfortable lead cruising for all 15 laps to the finish. Behind him Matt Barbour of Brockville, Ont would swap second with Athens, Ont native Nathan Berry. Berry would eventually prevail leaving Barbour third with defending champ John Stanley coming home in fourth. Rookie Evan Reynolds would complete the fast five, Evan also was victorious in his heat race earlier in the evening.
The series takes a week off then returns to action on June 1st at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY followed up by a date at the Land Of Legends in Canandaigua on June 2nd.
Pit notes: Matt Larrivee was unable to make the feature with mechanical woes in his heat…Series Director Jeff Ciglich would climb aboard the Pete Stapper owned #28 for the night…Jay Severson made his DMNT debut in the tower as series announcer bringing lots of energy and enthusiasm to the show…Race Director Mike Verbeek took control of the night and did an outstanding job.
