Accord Speedway Welcomes Six Divisions Of Racing Friday Evening

Story By: STEVE PADOS / ACCORD SPEEDWAY – ACCORD, NY – Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer, in conjunction with Northeast Paving and Sealcoating, will usher in a full card of racing this coming Friday evening, June 1st, at their superb quarter mile speedplant located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State.

The speedway will host their regular six divisions of racing activity. The scheduled USAC East Coast racing series event has been cancelled. The evening of speed will be presented by the good folks at NPS located in Ellenville, NY. Their website is: www.http://northeastpavingandsealcoat.com

The early season, has been hindered by one rainout and the speedway has worked through a couple nights when the rain has fallen but good work ethic by the staff allowed for the completion of the shows. With rain being a natural menace to racing promoters throughout the Northeast in 2018, being able to complete a show has been a blessing.

On the speedway, the racing action has been fantastic with the Insinger Fuels Modified division having five different winners in the first five events. Scott Ferrier, invader Andy Bachetti, Jimmy Wells, Brad Rothaupt and the latest winner Jerry Higbie has kept the fans buzzing with what driver may have the “hot ticket” for the next event. The same can be said for the Upstate Auto Pure Stock division as only Emerson Cargain has scored a pair of wins with track Champion Travis Brockner, Bob Sleight and Steve Williams each finding success. In the ultra competitive Arkel Motors Sportsman division only defending track champion Kyle Rohner has scored a double. Additionals winners have been Anthony Recchio, Danny Morgiewicz and the latest being Leo Fotopolus.

In the Sprint cars, Bobby Tersillo scored three consecutive wins early on and has since been missing in action and has allowed Mick D’Agostino and Jeremy Quick to strut their stuff in the WRWD Radio Victory Lane. Five winners have been documented for the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman events with Kenny Ryder, Brian Durbin, Charles Loiodice, Cole Stangle and Travis Green each scoring a victory. The Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinder division has taken on a new dimension in their return to the speedway as full car counts and good racing have highlighted their shows with Jeff DeGroat and Jerry Kingeter each winning two of the five events presented and Richard Smith also claiming a win.

A reminder to all fans and 602 Crate Sportsman drivers. The speedway will host a special Sportsman Shootout on June 13th offering $1,000.00 to the winner and $100.00 to take the green flag. Upstate Auto Pure Stocks and Emmanuel’s Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinders will round out the Midweek special event.
