Abreu Ends Three-Race Weekend With Top-Ten At Tri-State

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RICO ABREU RACING – ST. HELENA, CA – After a pair of tough starts at the legendary Eldora Speedway, finishing 24th and 18th, respectively, during #LetsRaceTwo weekend at “The Big E,” St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu rebounded for a top-ten finish with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Sunday evening at Tri-State Speedway, advancing from the inside of row six to finish 7th, ultimately clinching his seventh top-ten finish of the 2018 season.

Facing-off against 42 other entries on Sunday night at the high-banked, quarter-mile oval, Abreu solidified his A-main starting position by finishing third during his respective heat race. The driver of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Alpinestars/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car kicked-off his evening by recording the sixth fastest time during his respective group of qualifying time trials. The overall result increased Abreu’s 2018 top-ten count to four against The Greatest Show On Dirt.

Although missing the top-ten on both nights, Abreu’s Eldora visit ended with two main event starts, qualifying for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win, #LetsRaceTwo finale with a fourth place finish during heat race competition.

“The car was good all weekend, we just need to find a way to get a little more forward bite,” Abreu explained. “Hats off to my guys. They work their tails off and I really do appreciate it. I’m not exactly sure what our plan of attack will be for this weekend. We are going to keep our eye on the weather and make a game plan closer to Friday. We’ll try our best to keep all of our fans in the loop.”
