Wing Champ Racing Series Season Opener This Saturday At Caroga Creek

Story By: JIM HILLIER SR. / WING CHAMP RACING SERIES – JOHNSTOWN, NY – The 2018 Varin Freight Systems Wing Champ Racing Season opener gets top billing this coming Saturday at the Caroga Creek Speedway located in Ephratah, New York.

Labeled the “Fastest Growing Series in the Northeast”, the WCRS has expanded from a single division in 2016 and 2017 to include three additional divisions in 2018. Interest for Saturdays event, has been coming into WCRS Founder Tom Varin from all across New York State, Canada, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. That interest has come from over thirty teams who have filed their 2018 driver/sponsor information in just the Adult Wing Champ Pro Division which covers ages 16 and older.

The three new divisions added in 2018 include the Rage Karts Future Wing Stars Ages 5-9, the Adrenaline Rush Racing Junior Young Guns Ages 8-12 and the Adrenaline Rush Racing Young Guns Ages 12-15. The future stars of area wing champ racing will come from the three above mentioned divisions, thus, the addition of the three exciting divisions. Several sponsors have come on board to add cash and contingencies for this weekends Moran Racing Products 25 event. Gates to the speedway will open at 12 noon with hot laps for all four divisions are slated to get underway at 2 pm. After the hot lap sessions are completed then time trials, heat races and features will complete the days events.

The top three finishers in the Rage Karts feature along with the top three finishers in the Adrenaline Rush Racing Junior Young Guns feature will be awarded with a gallon of racing fuel compliments of “We Are the Future”. Each feature event winner will receive a trophy compliments of Adrenaline Rush Racing. The feature winner in the Adrenaline Rush Racing Young Guns Ages 12-15 event will receive a trophy along with $100.00 one hundred dollars.

The Adult Wing Champ Pro Series will draw for time trial positions that will determine heat starting spots with the fastest time trialers starting up front in the heats. Heat qualifiers will determine the 20 positions for the Moran Racing Products (MRP) feature event. There will also be a semi-feature for those who do not capture one the of the 20 MRP positions and that feature will pay $100. to win.

For those WCRS competitors interested in running for the 2018 point funds, you can pay this weekend your “one time” $20. Adult or $15. Youth divisions point fund entry fee. The “one time only fee” must be paid for any competitor to be eligible to earn points towards the 2018 titles and point fund monies. There will be an MRP WCRS Adult entry fee this week to compete of $35. with the Youth entry based on track pit admission price.

Moran Racing Products, Adrenaline Rush Racing, O’Connor Automotive, Varin Freight Systems, Mr. Mike Shirley in memory of his parents, Rocket Cuts, Rage Karts, Slack Karts/PMI, Trafton and Sons Refrigeration & AC all have contributed to the success of this weekends MRP 25 VFS WCRS event. The Adult WCRS Pro event will pay $500. to win, $200. for second, $150. for third, $125. for fourth and $100. for fifth.
