Wing Champ Racing Series Ready To Fly In 2018

Story By: JIM HILLIER SR. / WING CHAMP RACING SERIES – JOHNSTOWN, NY – The long wait is almost over for the four division 2018 Wing Champ Racing Series (WCRS) to get their racing schedule underway. Yes, there are major changes to the program this year with the addition of the three new divisions and the expansion of the series itself to other tracks. The WCRS founder Tom Varin felt it was time to expand to other racing venues to showcase the present and future stars of the WCRS. It is no longer a racing secret as the series is now considered the “Fastest Growing Racing Series in the Northeast”.

“We sent the request out to our Adult Wing Champ competitors seeking a drivers profile information to build a roster for the 2018 season. At every track that the series event goes to, we will recognize the driver, their home town, their home track and importantly their sponsors. Much to our surprise 32 drivers have responded to our request from New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Massachusettes and Connecticut. We feel that our first event could very well draw a field of fifty Adult Wing Champs.” stated Race Director Tom Varin.

The addition of three youth classes this year is also drawing a lot of interest. “It was time to build on the huge success with the Adult Division by adding three youth divisions as they are and will be the stars of racing future.” said founder Tom Varin. Those three new divisions include the Rage Future Wing Stars Ages 5-9, the Adrenaline Rush Junior Young Guns Ages 8-12 and the Adrenaline Rush Young Guns Ages 12-15 to go along with the Adult Wing Champs Ages 16 and older.

The 2018 Wing Champ Racing Series is scheduled to get under way on Saturday April 28 at the Todd Moran promoted Caroga Creek Speedway in Ephratah New York. Event number two is set for Saturday May 19 at the Bill Glitch promoted Paradise Speedway located in Geneva New York. The Paradise Speedway event will be an exhibition for the three youth divisions and a point race event for the Adult Wing Champs.

Event number three moves to the state of Pennsylvania at Snydersville Raceway in Stroudsburg Pennsylvania under the direction of promoters Barry and Alex Greenzweig . There will be racing on Friday night June 15th with a no points with an Adult Wing Champ event paying $250. to win. Then on Saturday June 16th the racing will include an event at Snydersville Raceway with all four WCRS divisions in action for valuable series points.

Event number five will be staged at the Turkey Trot Speedway promoted by Joe and Kate Maille in Fort Edward New York on Saturday July 7th. That series event will be exhibition event only for all four divisions with no series points being awarded. Friday July 27th the WCRS series and its four divisions will converge on the Paul Montenaro promoted Dodge City Speedway in Howes Cave New York for a full four division point event.

A day show, Saturday August 11th, for only the three youth divisions including points will be staged at the areas newest track Four Corners Speedway located in Charleston Four Corners promoted by Tom Varin. The Adult Wing Champ division will compete the next day Sunday August 12th for points at the Mike Parillo-Ray Sefrin promoted Glen Ridge Motorpsorts Park located in Fultonville New York.

The 2018 WCRS will conclude on Saturday September 1st with the final points event for all four divisions at the Rick Raner promoted Frozen Ocean Raceway in Auburn New York. Burris Racing Tires #33 are the only tire allowed for any of the four divisions of the WCRS in 2018. Also, all four divisions for every WCRS event “Raceceivers Are Mandatory.
