Tony Stewart Works To Rebound After tough Weekend In Central Pennsylvania
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – After a long stretch of 360c.i. sprint car competition, most recently participating in the Texas Sprint Car Nationals featuring the ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series, Tony Stewart made the transition back to the 410c.i. ranks and joined the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 for pair of programs in Pennsylvania.
Stewart’s trip to the Keystone State included visits to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, April 13, as well as Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, April 14. Although Stewart’s results were disappointing, the three-time NASCAR Cup champion valued his track time and looks forward to returning to Pennsylvania in the future.
“Central Pennsylvania is a tough place to race. Not only did we have to compete against the All Stars, but we also had to compete against a loaded field of local talent,” Tony Stewart, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car, said. “We learned a lot over the weekend. You have to take the bad with the good and move forward. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to return to Central Pennsylvania and outdo our performances from this past weekend.”
Battling against a field nearing 50 entries during his pair of All Star Circuit of Champions starts, each of Stewart’s attempts ended during B-main competition, forced to race the consolation events after failing to transfer through his respective heat races. During his best heat race performance of the weekend, the Columbus, Ind., native missed an A-main transfer position by one spot on Saturday at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace,” finishing fifth with only the top-four making the call.
“Laps are important anyway you can get them,” Stewart continued. “We tried to make the best of our situation and learn for the next time.”
Tony Stewart’s upcoming plans will be determined in the coming days. Please stay tuned for further details.
