Afton Cancels Friday’s Test & Tune Due To Wet Grounds

Story By: JR KENNERUP / AFTON MOTORSPORTS PARK – AFTON, NY – The scheduled Test and Tune session for Afton Motorsports Park that was slated to take place this Friday night April 13th has been cancelled due to wet grounds.

Another Test and Tune session is slated to take place at Afton Motorsports Park on Friday night April 20th starting at 7pm. The Test and Tune session is open to any racing machine that will be in competition at the track this upcoming season. Pit admission is $20, grandstand admission is free with a donation of a canned good.

” The track and overall the entire facility is no where near ready to host any type of racing action ” said Afton Motorsports Park promoter Ron Ford. ” With winter hanging on tough, it has just made it almost impossible for the facility to dry out. Hopefully with the warmer weather that is suppose to be arriving later this week, it will help dry things out so we can host practice on April 20th. ”

Ford continued on by saying, ” Just like with this week we will make a decision early in the week next week on whether practice will take place or not. But I am very optimistic that we will be able to get some on track action if everything weather wise goes as predicted. The facility just needs to dry out and we get some hours on the new racing surface to get it race ready. ”

Test and Tune night on April 20th is an excellent opportunity to come out to the track and see who is going to be calling Afton Motorsports Park home in 2018. It is also an excellent opportunity to bring a new person to the track and let them see what Afton Motorsports Park is all about. Grandstand admission on Test and Tune night is FREE with the donation of a canned good, with all canned goods being donated to the local food banks in Afton and surrounding communities.

On Friday April 27th the 2018 season opener for Afton Motorsports Park will take place with pit gates opening at 4pm, grandstand gates at 4:30pm, hot laps at 6:15 pm, and the first heat at 7 pm sharp. Pit admission is $30, grandstand admission is $12 with senior citizen admission for people 62 and older just $10, youth admission for teens 9 to 14 is $5, and children 8 and under are free with the purchase of an adult admission.
