Wilson Aiming To Improve Career-Best WoO Sprint Result At Stockton Dirt Track This Weekend
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / GREG WILSON RACING – TULARE, CA – Greg Wilson is venturing to one of his favorite tracks in California this weekend for a World of Outlaws doubleheader.
Wilson and the Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Alloy Wheels sponsored team are scheduled to compete on Friday and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout.
“Stockton can be a fun race track and if it’s prepared well it provides the opportunity to move around and pass cars,” he said. “I think we’ve improved every time we’ve raced there.”
Wilson has competed at the track four times in his career and he recorded a career-best finish last year during his visit.
“This early in the season we’re trying to learn each night and progress from track to track,” he said. “Some tracks are easier to do that than others.”
Wilson raced last Friday at Thunderbowl Raceway, where he battled all night to overcome time trials.
“The key to setting yourself up is the two laps in qualifying each night,” he said. “If you qualify well it makes your night so much easier and when you don’t time in within the first few positions it makes it really tough to overcome that. Our team fought all night and we were looking forward to Saturday’s show to gauge our progress, but rain washed it out.”
Saturday’s weekend finale at Thunderbowl Raceway rained out.
Prior to this weekend’s races Wilson will have a Hercules Tires dealership visit on Wednesday at Patterson Tire Pros in Patterson, Calif., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
