Sides Motorsports Garners Top 10 In Tulare With Tim Kaeding Behind The Wheel

Story By: SHAWN MILLER / SIDES MOTORSPORTS – TULARE, CA – Jason Sides enjoyed a different perspective last Friday during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event.

Sides focused on his role as car owner after his own qualifying result was near the back of the pack during the opening night of a doubleheader at Thunderbowl Raceway, where veteran Tim Kaeding also piloted a Sides Motorsports entry.

“I wanted to qualify better, but it didn’t go as well as we hoped in the backup car,” Sides said. “Our stuff wasn’t running as well as it should and we decided it was going to be too risky to try to come from the back in a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown to make the A Main so we parked it for the remainder of the night.”

Kaeding timed in eighth quickest in his group and he finished where he started – fourth – in a heat race to lock into the 16th starting position for the 35-lap A Main.

“We made changes all night freeing it up and getting him comfortable in it,” Sides said. “Late in the race he was a lot better. I think it was a pretty good run.”

Kaeding maneuvered to an eighth-place finish, which earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

Saturday’s race rained out.

Both Sides and Kaeding will compete for Sides Motorsports this Friday and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout with the World of Outlaws.

“I like racing there,” Sides said. “Last year we started off real well and led the first lap of the race. We had a power steering line rub a bolt and cut it so hopefully we’re just as fast with a little more luck this year.”
