Meet The Contestants Trying To Win Miss Ransomville 2018
Story By: STEVE PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – For the second straight season, fans will have the opportunity to see who will be crowned Miss Ransomville as part of the annual mall show held this weekend. Four local females are in the running for the title, which will take place on Saturday, March 24 at 7 pm.
Out of the four contestants running this year, Alexis Morris is the only one returning to run again. Alexis was the runner-up to 2017 Miss Ransomville, Emily Buzzard. “I wanted to run again because I met so many great people and learned to get to know new people in my short time of working at the track when I helped out last year”. “I have always grown up in racing since before I can remember and 21 years later, I l still continue to go every Friday night and including special events and I go to different tracks as well. It’s great watching people you know race and you hope the best for them.” Alexis has been attending races since she was a year old, watching her dad race. Alexis even dabbled in racing, running a couple of go-kart events. She is still attending the races every week to cheer on her boyfriend. “It’s awesome to have the track five minutes from my house!”, Alexis explained. “I wish all the contestants the best of luck and I can’t wait to reconnect with familiar faces at the mall show”.
Like Alexis, Nicole Dell has been around the speedway for much of her life. “I want to be more involved with the track”, Nicole said. “I worked at the track last year and really enjoyed getting to interact with the fans and sponsors”, Nicole said. “I love the atmosphere and the relationships you can make at the track. I also think being Miss Ransomville is a great way to be involved with the community and a role model for young fans. My younger brother (Pat) has raced for the last 10 years. Before that, close family friends have raced, and I have been a fan since the age of 10.” “I break the mold for the typical Miss Ransomville, but it shows every girl that if you want something and you put your mind and heart into it, you can do it. This is an incredible opportunity to be an inspiration to the community”, Nicole said.
Mariah Reilly was brought up going to the races just like Alexis and Nicole. She attends races at Lancaster on Saturday nights as well as been a frequent visitor to Ransomville. “I have recently become interested in the dirt racing side of things since my recent visit to Volusia Speedway Park and the few races that I’ve been to at Ransomville”, Mariah said. Her grandfather started racing in the 60’s through the early 70’s and after he came back into the sport in the late 80’s, the Thompson Racing team has had family friends drive their cars, primarily at Lancaster National Speedway. “I love seeing the kids involved with the go-karts and getting to love racing like I do”, Mariah continued. Mariah has earned a checkered flag to her credit after scoring a win in the Powder-Puff event at Lancaster. She also follows her boyfriends racing efforts on the Race of Champions Modified Series. “Racing is my life. I would love to be Miss Ransomville because I would love to meet the kids, drivers, and fans that love racing like I do. I want to show my support the thing I love… racing”.
Kari Stoelting is a Ransomville girl, born and raised. “I decided to try out because I believe that I could be someone that everyone can relate to”, Kari said. “I don’t have an extensive racing background, but I have been going to the track every summer since I can remember”. Kari believes that Miss Ransomville can be “someone who may not necessarily know how to change a race car tire, but someone who loves Ransomville, racing and someone who can be personable to each and every person who steps foot at the speedway.” Kari also believes that “those qualities in addition to being someone younger children can look up to is what representing Ransomville Speedway is all about”.
Alexis, Nicole, Mariah, and Kari will be at the car show all weekend long. There will be a special meet & greet opportunity on Friday, March 23 from 6:30-7:15 pm. The crowning of Miss Ransomville will begin at 7 pm on Saturday, March 24. An autograph session will take place from 6:00-6:30 pm on Saturday evening with all the drivers participating in the car show.
At the show, fans can check out and purchase the brand-new Ransomville Speedway apparel available in all sizes.
