Merrittville Speedway 2018 Driver Meetings Set For Stock Car & Kart Divisions
Story By: JIM IRVINE / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT – Whether the groundhog saw it’s shadow or not … Merrittville Speedway’s 2018 season will get closer to going green with Driver Meetings for all Saturday and Tuesday Night Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series Divisions Saturday February 10th at Port Robinson’s Club Castropignano.
“In different sessions through the day, racers can learn of any rules changes and/or safety updates,” informed (Merrittville owner) Don Spiece, “Drivers also have the chance to register by purchasing Driver VIP Passes or Kart Memberships … Crew Members can also pick up their Saturday Night Pit Season Passes as well.”
Drivers and Crew Members can purchase their Passes prior to their Division’s designated time slot and pick them up on their way out.
With the 67th consecutive season a little more than 2 months away, the Central Fabricating and Welding 4 Cylinders and the new Dave’s Auto and Speed Centre V6 Divisions will kick off sessions for Saturday Night Racers at 1 PM.
The Hoosier Stocks and Wood Motor Company Modified Lites will be discussed starting at 2 PM with the S&W Service Centre Sportsman and Pinty’s Delicious Foods 358 Modifieds closing out the afternoon starting at 3 PM.
2018 Driver VIP Passes will remain at $250.00 while Pit Season Passes are $375.00 until March 1st when they become $450.00.

Merrittville’s 25th Season of Kart Racing will kick it all off with a 12 PM start for those competing in the Performance Manufacturing Line Up that includes the Designed Wright St. Catharines Discount Auto Parts Wilder Racing Engines Novice 1 and Novice 2, RCM Racing Equipment Junior 1, Quick Ink Custom Screen Printing Junior 2 and Southern Ontario Modified Lite Racing Association Senior Animal Divisions in addition to the Senior Fun and new for 2018 Micro Sprint Divisions.
2018 Kart Memberships are $60.00 which will include the Driver’s Banquet Ticket.
“To use the new Driver VIP Pass – you must have your car in the pit area and compete on that given night,” revealed Spiece, “if there is a night between April 28th and September 1st that your division is not on the schedule … you can still use it for admission … Driver VIP Passes will only be available until March 1st.” Driver VIP Passes are valid between April 28th and September 1st.”
For Drivers to be eligible for season ending awards and point monies, drivers must have maintained attendance of 75% or greater in 2018.
4 Cylinders, Modified Lites and Hoosier Stocks are not required to hold a Driver VIP Pass or Pit Season Pass to collect points, but must have at least 75% attendance in 2018 to receive point fund monies and any other awards at the end of the season.
The most direct route to Club Castropignano is from Merrittville Highway … exit onto Port Robinson Road, travel over HWY 406 and turn right onto Egerter Road.
