Finger Lakes Speed World Growing Fast For 2018

Story By: JIM OLIN / FINGER LAKES SPEED WORLD – AUBURN, NY – The annual Finger Lakes Speed World Show, now in it’ s third year under promoter Jim Olin, kicks off the Central New York racing season for 2018 with a variety of fun for the whole family.

The show began nearly a decade ago as a mall show where teams could display their cars and local tracks could get some publicity in the general public. In the past couple years many new ideas have come to light at Speed World. With a little elbow grease and a lot of grass roots promotion, the little show that could has become a staple for racing families in the CNY area.

The show takes place March 3 and 4 at The Finger Lakes Mall in Auburn, NY. The show runs during regular mall hours. Move in for exhibitors begins Friday, March 2nd at 6pm. The show is open to all forms of motorsports. There will be a wide variety of racing machines from Microds and Go-karts to Dirt modifieds and dragsters, along with vendors that support the sport.

This years show, sponsored by Small Addictions RC and Hobby features Land Of Legends Raceway, the former Canandaigua Motorsports Park as our star attraction. Their display will occupy the center court area of the mall along with the Patriot Sprint/CRSA Sprints booth. There will be a large display from the DIRT Hall Of Fame And Museum, and participation from several other local speedways.

For 2018, the Speed World Spring Fling Classic Car show has been added to the schedule and will be quartered in the event center in the mall. There will be a pin-up model contest, featuring the CNY Rockabetties, music and adult beverages on Sunday March 4th at 4pm.

Returning this year are the ever popular RC Demo Derby and The Northeast Mudboss Series which will take place during the show weekend as well.

There will be plenty for the kids to do with the return of Power Wheels Racing, and also there will be a kids fun area in the mall where they can engage in lots of fun activities.
