Brian Brown Excited For West Coast Swing With World of Outlaws
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / BRIAN BROWN RACING – GRAIN VALLEY, MO – Brian Brown is bound for the Western United States to spend the next month competing with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
The action begins this Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown before the weekend concludes on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown.
“Our whole West Coast swing is built around our partner FVP,” Brown said. “They have a lot of locations along the West Coast. FVP is the presenting sponsor of the World of Outlaws races in Las Vegas and Stockton and will bring employees and customers to the other events along the West Coast so we’re looking forward to the next month out there. To go out and meet customers and employees of FVP makes this an important part of our season.”
Brown has also been nipping at the bud of scoring his first World of Outlaws victory at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas, where he’s earned a runner-up result during two of the last three years. Brown has won a pair of dashes and placed in the top five during four of his last six races at the half-mile oval.
“I think we’ve been in contention to win at least one night every single year we’ve been there,” he said. “The big half miles suit my driving style. Our Garrett Engines run well when you can air them out at a place like Las Vegas.”
This year marks the eighth consecutive season Brown has competed at the track with the World of Outlaws. He’s earned at least one top-six result at the oval during five of those seasons. Brown also netted a pair of runner-up finishes during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader at the track in 2010.
“The unique thing about our sport is it doesn’t matter what you did last year or in the past,” he said. “You have to go in there and qualify well. That’s the key to starting your night strong. Then get through the heat and hopefully that will put you in a good position for the dash.
“With FVP being the presenting sponsor of the races in Las Vegas it adds excitement and pressure knowing they’ll have a couple hundred people there both nights to support us.”
Brown will wrap up this weekend with an event on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway, where he’s raced during four of the last six seasons. His career-best result at the oval is an eighth-place finish in 2014.
