Tyler Thompson Focused On TQ Midget Gambler’s Classic in Atlantic City
Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TEAM TAPOUT RACING – OSWEGO, NY – After making his TQ Midget debut at the Indoor Racing Championship fueled by VP Racing Fuels inside the PPL Center in Allentown, PA, rookie standout Tyler Thompson is now focused solely on the NAPA Know How Gambler’s Classic in the Boardwalk Hall of Atlantic City, NJ on January 25-27.
Thompson competed in both the TQ Midget and Champ Kart divisions in Allentown, with a second-place finish in the Champ A-Main on Friday night of the weekend, but the Fulton, NY driver will now put all of his focus toward his TQ Midget program in Atlantic City.
“It was my call to focus on the TQ, despite how well we have been running with the Champ,” said Thompson. “Our team has worked so hard to get the TQ up and ready, and after we qualified for the Saturday A-Main it Allentown, I felt it was right to focus all of our efforts on that program for Atlantic City. The best of the best will be in AC and you have to be focused and ready all weekend if you hope to qualify and be competitive.”
Thompson proved he is poised for continued success in TQ action after winning the Saturday night B-Main in Allentown to qualify for the weekend finale. Overheating issues sidelined Thompson in the A-Main, but the overall goal for the weekend was met.
Despite Thompson staying with the Team Tapout No. 98T TQ all weekend in Atlantic City, the stout Team Tapout Champ Kart will still be in action with indoor racing veteran Tyler Brown at the controls.
Hailing from Mifflintown, PA, Brown is a two-time winner of the Pro 4-Cycle main event at the annual New York State Indoor Championship in Syracuse, NY and the winner of last year’s Pro Flathead main at Motorama in Harrisburg, PA.
Brown’s attempt in the No. 98T Champ Kart will be his first run in Atlantic City.
“We’re excited that Brownie is able to drive for us in the Champ division,” said Thompson. “There is no doubt he will be a threat for victory and will be a great representation of Performance Manufacturing, Slack Karts, and our entire team in Atlantic City.”
