Trey Starks, Gobrecht Motorsports To Open Season In Florida With All Stars & WoO
Story By: SHAWN MILLER / GOBRECHT MOTORSPORTS – PUYALLUP, WA – Trey Starks and the Gobrecht Motorsports team will kick off an ambitious schedule next week during the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions season-opening tripleheader.
Starks, who is coming off back-to-back stellar seasons that saw him reach new heights, is slated to compete Feb. 1-3 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., during the Bubba Army Winter Nationals before making his debut at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., Feb. 7-11 with both the All Stars and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
“I’ve been excited for the season to start since we wrapped up last season,” he said. “Scott Gobrecht, Jeff McCall and everyone with Gobrecht Motorsports works hard to put winning cars on the track. I think our growth has been really strong since we teamed up and I’m looking forward to the Florida events as well as the 2018 season.”
Starks wrapped up last season at Bubba Raceway Park, where he won the opening night of a USCS Series doubleheader before earning the Hard Charger Award for maneuvering from 14th to fifth place during the finale. He also placed second and won, respectively, during his first-ever visit to the oval in 2015.
“It’s a unique track, but one we’ve ran well at,” he said. “We’ve won two of our four races there and have finished in the top five all four times so that is a big confidence booster moving forward.”
The Gobrecht Motorsports team will venture to Volusia Speedway Park the following week for five straight nights of racing. The first two are under the All Stars banner with the final three races sanctioned by the World of Outlaws.
Starks captured his first career All Star feature victory last season and he is seeking his first career World of Outlaws win.
“Both weekends in Florida will be tough,” he said. “The competition will be as challenging as it gets, but this is a great opportunity for our team. It’s also the earliest I’ve started a season so I think that will help tremendously.”
