Ransomville Speedway Names New Track Photographer

Story By: STEVE PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – Long-time race fan and photographer Tom Stevens has been named the new track photographer at the Ransomville Speedway. Tom will be taking pictures of the action on both Thursday nights for the go-kart program as well as the weekly action on Friday nights at the Big R!

“I started bringing my small camera to the races 10 years ago and posted some pictures on Dirt Track Digest,” Stevens said. “Mike and George over at DTD asked if I wanted to contribute every week so I upgraded my equipment and have been taking pictures ever since” Stevens continued.

One of Tom’s favorite moments behind the lens took place at Ransomville. The first was a photo-finish between Danny Johnson and Erick Rudolph. “My lens was pointed right at the start-finish line between Danny and Erick and it was a great race,” Tom said. “Rudolph would get the win on that Friday night over “The Doctor” by 0.009 of a second. That night, Ryan Susice would win his first track championship.

“My favorite race that I photographed was the last Super DIRT Week at the Fairgrounds. The whole week was amazing and so different than any other race I have covered. I was just glad I got the opportunity to cover the last one held there” Tom added.
