New Ownership At Can-Am Speedway Busy Preparing For 2018
Story By: CAN-AM SPEEDWAY – LAFARGEVILLE, NY – The new ownership of the Can-Am Speedway, has been busy this holiday season making plans for what hopes to be an exciting racing season at the fast 1/2 mile clay oval in LaFargeville.
New owner, Tyler Bartlett, has been putting in extra hours getting the schedules in place for Friday night DIRTcar Racing at Can-Am and also the popular go-kart racing action which will be held on Saturday’s this season on the small track behind the main grandstand. Tyler is also finalizing the rules for the classes not covered under the DIRT rule book.
The Novice Sportsman, Pro Street Stocks and Thunder Cars will see minor changes moving forward into 2018, rule books will be out shortly. A number of major changes have already been put in place, with racing action returning to Friday nights and DIRTcar points now on the line for 358 DIRT Modifieds and DIRT Sportsman it is hoped car counts will increase in both divisions.
Can-Am is planning an active off season also. Look for the Speedway to be present at the annual Motorsports Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds in March and other car shows held around the area. Can-Am is also in talks with the Salmon Run Mall in Watertown to bring back the very popular “Mall Show” where racers can show off there cars and karts for the coming race season.
Race cars and karts will officially hit there respective tracks on April 28th and 29th for two days of open practice, with opening days scheduled for May 4th and 5th. Look for updates and news on our Facebook page, Can-Am Motorsports and on our website www.racecanam.com
