Missile Motorsports To Debut ‘Go Joe’ Gosek Throwback Scheme At Syracuse Motorsports Expo
Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / MISSILE MOTORSPORTS – OSWEGO, NY – The Missile Motorsports No. 00 Small Block Supermodified, driven in 2018 by Dan Kapuscinski, will debut in the 32nd annual Syracuse Motorsports Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds on March 10-11 as a tribute to Oswego Speedway and Supermodified racing legend, Joe Gosek.
With the help of Mark Van Luven’s AVL Signs & Designs, the No. 00 SBS will look to replicate the look of Gosek’s 1991 machine, which took Gosek to his first International Classic triumph, three regular season victories at Oswego, a third-place finish in the yearlong Oswego championship, and another win in the Hy-Miler Nationals at Sandusky Speedway.
“Mark Castiglia’s father was a long-time sponsor of Joe through Andres Bottled Gas and I have been a fan of Joe since I attended my first International Classic in 1991,” said Dan Kapuscinski. “I’ve used Joe’s No. 00 as often as I could and with it open this year in the SBS ranks, we thought it would be great to go all the way and pay tribute to a legendary driver and hero to so many people in our sport.”
Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified Rookie of the Year in 1980, Gosek will embark on his 39th consecutive season of racing Supermodifieds at Oswego in 2018.
A three-time winner of the International Classic and a two-time Oswego track champion, Gosek still displays every bit of the fire and ambition that he burst onto the scene with back in ’80, as was evident last season in claiming his 44th career Oswego victory and a fourth-place finish in the International Classic.
The Syracuse Motorsports Expo will also see the debut of partners Cam’s Pizzeria, Farmers Insurance Stephen Gioia Agency, Lakeside Property Services, Performance Manufacturing, Skip’s Fish Fry, Slack Karts, and Weedsport Speedway on the side of the No. 00.
The Missile Motorsports racer will be housed in the area of Oswego Speedway’s booth which will once again feature 2018 racing schedules and more.
