DMI / Bull Dog Rear Ends Sweeps 32nd Chili Bowl Nationals
Story By: MANDEE PAUCH / DIVERSIFIED MACHINE, INC – LANCASTER, PA – Coming off of a career season where Christopher Bell began his year with his first Chili Bowl win and ended it with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship, Bell turned heads once again by opening 2018 in similar fashion at the most prestigious dirt midget race in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Equipped with a Baby Bulldog rear, the Oklahoma native bested 344 other drivers over a long and ultimately fruitful week that had the best of the best competing to make the top 24 spots.
Bell’s victory gave car owner, Keith Kunz, his seventh Chili Bowl Nationals win as a car owner and fourth consecutive since 2015.
“Keith makes sure to have our stuff in all of his cars,” said DMI’s sales manager, Dave Ely. “We’re very fortunate that the best teams seek out the best components.”
Not only did DMI and Bulldog collect one of the most prestigious victories known to dirt midget racing but also swept the entire week; visiting victory lane Tuesday through Saturday.
“The Baby Bulldog was born in the middle of the Swindell Chili Bowl dominance,” added Ely. “They immediately switched and I think since that time we’ve only lost maybe two or three prelim night features they’ve had at the Expo Center and we’ve won every Saturday night finale.”
The prelim features went to Bulldog drivers Kyle Larson, Rico Abreu, Christopher Bell and Justin Grant.
“We’re very thankful for the success we’ve experienced in all types of racing,” Ely said. “We’re really grateful for the way the midget racer’s embraced the Baby Bulldog. Last weeks results show how dominant we are not just on their biggest stage but year round, race after race, the top racers win with Baby Bulldogs. We’ll keep doing what we do to ensure that doesn’t change.”
Saturday night’s main event saw eight out of the top ten cars with Baby Bulldog rears.
“My goal is still to have 100% of the Saturday night A-Main,” he said. “We’ve been really close and one of these years it’s going to happen!”
