Jason Johnson Racing Returns As Private Owner Of WoO Sprint Team; Parts Ways With Marshall Racing
Story By: JASON JOHNSON RACING – ROCKY MOUNT, MO – One of the things about racing that makes it such a great sport is that it is constantly evolving, ultra-competitive, and is filled with a lot of innovative and great people on and off the track. With that being said change is also an inevitable part of the growth process. Effective today, Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) and Marshall Racing (MR) have amicably and mutually withdrawn from the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR)/Marshall Racing (MR) partnership that was formed and announced in December 2016.
Jason and Bobbi Johnson will return as sole owners of the JJR #41 racing team entry as they prepare for the 2018 racing season.
Regarding the ownership change, Jason stated, “I appreciate the support and time we have had with Richard and Jennifer Marshall since they joined our team as sponsors initially, which eventually grew into a partnership for the 2017 season.” He continued, “They are both influential people that have a passion for the sport and supported and encouraged us to make us better on and off the track. I wish them only continued success as they move forward with their racing endeavors.” A career highlight that will always shine during their time together happened on that August night in 2016 when Jason raced under the checkered flag to win the Knoxville Nationals. “We will never forget that night as it was rewarding to celebrate with Richard, Jennifer and all of our sponsorship partners and supporters as we came together to win the biggest race in sprint car racing – the Knoxville Nationals.”
Jason and Bobbi, along with long-time crew chief Philip Dietz and crewman Jeff Bingaman, are busy preparing for the upcoming season. They are looking forward to carrying their speed and success into the 2018 season and look forward to seeing everyone at the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in February. No additional media releases will be forthcoming as Jason is headed over to Australia to race and the team is focused and preparing the JJR #41 team for the upcoming season.
The team will use the same tenacity of purpose and focus in the upcoming season that has become a hallmark along their proven success journey resulting in 5 ASCS National Tour Championships as owners (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014), being recognized as the World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year (2015), winning the Knoxville Nationals (2016), and driving to two back-to-back top ten finishes in the World of Outlaws season long point standings (7th in 2016; and, 6th in 2017).
