Woodhull Raceway Switches To Big Block / Small Block Modifieds In 2018

Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – WOODHULL, NY – Ahead of the rule meetings (tbd), Ted and Brandi White have proposed a set of rules for the upcoming 2018 race season. Among the changes to come in the next year, the Modified division will change from a 370ci Small Block only division to an open Big Block and Small Block modified division.

According to the Proposed rule book posted on the Woodhull Raceway website, the following are changes in 2018 to the Modified division:

“ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS: Big- and small-block engine combinations are permitted to run. Chevrolet/GM, Ford or Chrysler/Dodge carbureted engines ONLY. Sealed W-16 Engine permitted. The standard weight for all Modifieds is 2,400 lbs. (all-aluminum small-blocks are not permitted).”

Emphasized on their website and social media, the rule book is a proposed version and will be set after the rules meetings before the season starts. The meeting dates and times are yet to be determined when scheduling with the Woodhull Volunteer Fire Dept.
