Gobbler’s “Mash Potato” Modifieds Get A Little Extra “Gravy” For 2017 Event
Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – ACCORD, NY – There has been some “gravy” added to the ‘Gobbler’ ‘Mashed Potato’ Modified event.
Thanks to Upstate Automotive in Germantown, N.Y., the big-block/small-block ‘Mashed Potato’ Modified winner at Accord Speedway Saturday, November 25 will receive $5,500, an increase of $500 from the originally posted $5,000.
The post-Thanksgiving event becomes more lucrative for 50 fast laps around the Ulster County bullring. The 2017 edition of the ‘Gobbler’ is the fifth anniversary of an event that was first run at Accord in November 2013.
Anthony Perrego of Middletown, N.Y., won the inaugural ’13 ‘Gobbler’ event and then picked up his second win in the novelty program last year. Jackie Brown Jr. of Hurley, N.Y., topped the ’14 edition and ‘the Doctor’ Danny Johnson was the ’15 victor.
Joining the Modifieds will be the Sportsman (Open vs. Crate) offering a minimum of $1,000 to win, the Ron Wright Memorial Street Stock event, for the first time Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars ($1,000 to win), and a nightcap Four Cylinder Enduro.

A rain date of Saturday, December 2 will be in place.
For the 2017 ‘Gobbler’ event, Adult admission is $24. Seniors (ages 65 and over) pay $22. Kids 11 and under are $5.

Pit admission is $40 for Adults, with no license required.
Pit gates will open at 9 a.m. Grandstand gates will be unlocked at 10 a.m. Hot laps will begin at noon, with racing at 1 p.m.
