Oswego Speedway Introduces ‘Heroes Among Us’ Program For 2018

Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – Ahead of the 68th consecutive season of racing action at Oswego Speedway, track management is excited to introduce the ‘Heroes Among Us’ program to open at the start of the track’s 2018 campaign which begins with Opening Day set for Saturday, May 26.

‘Heroes Among Us’ will give race fans the chance to nominate someone who they feel has gone above and beyond for the local community, Oswego Speedway, or in general. This person can be a family member, friend, employee, and beyond. Anyone can be your ‘hero.’

Beginning this week, a form will be available at OswegoSpeedway.com located under the ‘FORMS’ tab. Should you want to nominate your hero, simply fill out the form to the best of your ability and speedway staff will dictate who the ‘Hero of the Week’ will be for each of the regular race nights in 2018.

Those chosen as Oswego Speedway’s ‘heroes’ will have the opportunity to either wave the green flag for the start of the Small Block Supermodified feature for that night, or ride in the Burritt Motors Chevrolet pace truck to pace the field prior to the start of the main event.

On top of being included as a special guest throughout the evening’s race program, a brief biography regarding the ‘hero among us’ will be read over the PA system during intermission, highlighting why that individual was chosen as Oswego’s ‘hero’ for that particular week.

Race fans will not want to miss out on this unique opportunity to honor some of Oswego’s finest in front of the drivers, teams and fans that flock to the Big O on Saturday nights from May to September. Direct access to the application form is available by visiting https://form.jotform.com/72823336631152.

Oswego Speedway’s 2018 schedule and rules packages are nearly complete and will be revealed in the coming weeks.

The 2017 Mitchell’s Speedway Press Hall of Fame Banquet will take place on Saturday, November 4 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego. Dinner will take place at 6pm followed by the full awards ceremony. Tickets are available for purchase in the speedway box office from 9am to 4pm on weekdays.
