Charlotte & The World Finals Ahead For Ryan Smith
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – In hopes of ending his 2017 campaign on an even higher note, the “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith will conclude his season officially with a journey to the Tar Heel State, set to join the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the annual Textron Off Road World Finals.
The three-day program, complete with two rounds of qualifying time trials followed by back-to-back nights of competition, will launch on Thursday evening, November 2. The World of Outlaws finale will feature the best in the business with nearly 50 drivers making the call in 2016. Smith made the trip to Charlotte in 2016, but did not qualify for main event action.
“The World Finals is a huge deal. I’m privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of it again. Last year we ended our trip a little short. I think we’ll outdo that performance this year, ” Ryan Smith said, who will pilot the Tom and Sherry Leidig/Rick’s Auto Body/Auto Electric of Jupiter, FL/Specialty Rigging/No. 59 during his visit to North Carolina. “I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish in 2017. We have quite the combination put together and it works. We proved our potential a few weeks back at Mansfield, so I think we are more than capable of putting on a show at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.”
The three-time Arctic Cat All Star winner in 2017, ending his campaign second in the championship standings, will enter the Textron Off Road World Finals with an impressive string of recent success that includes two victories in one night. The “Kunkletown Kid” swept the Double Down at Mansfield Motor Speedway program featuring the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions in early October, earning a grand total of $10,000 in less than four hours.
