Star Speedway Backpack Drive A Big Success
Column By: MATTHEW WIERNASZ / RPW – EPPING, NH – Summer time is over and the kids are back in school. Over the summer, Star Speedway held a backpack drive. Amanda Avery reached out to track owner Bobby Webber to see if she and the track could do a Kids Appreciation night and asked if the race teams could make a donation. Avery had gotten great support from the drivers, fans, and staff of Star Speedway.
The goal was to get 50 backpacks and Avery received a total of 200 backpacks with school supplies. She had tried to promote to get families to the race track and thought this would be a great way to do something for the kids. Avery was shocked at how many people wanted to donate. She was proud to be part of something like this and to have the support behind her.
Her two daughters ages nine and 11 had been a big help with this and that was very important to Avery for her daughters to give back to the fans that come and watch them every week.
Star Speedway started a youth division this season called the Star Troopers. Avery’s two daughters race in the division and the support from track owner Bobby Webber, staff, and race teams have been amazing. She feels getting kids into racing is very important as it creates friendships along with building confidence and discipline.
The Star Troopers is a team. All the kids know its about getting seat time and learning.
” There are no winners or losers and they all know that it is important to learn the aspects of the racing. All the parents are great at promoting being a team.”
Star Speedway will be back in action this Saturday night.
