Ryan Truex Having Fun On The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
Column By: MATTHEW WIERNASZ / RPW – LOUDON, NH – Ryan Truex has been having fun in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series during the 2017 season. It was kind of like night and day from this time last year to now. A year ago Truex was fighting to stay in the top 15 and would not know what he would be doing this season.
” A year later a lot has changed. Missing the playoffs was tough but just the fact we we’re in position and a fact we’re a top 5 truck every weekend its says a lot about me and this team in how far we’ve come.” Truex Said
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will not becoming back to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Truex family has had a lot of success at the Magic Mile. Ryan has won races in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
” I am guessing its going to be the last truck race here for a while. It kind of sucks I love coming up here. Its one of my favorite tracks. I’ve been coming up here forever way before I started racing.” Truex Said
Truex has some of his former NASCAR K&N Pro Series East team as part of his crew members on his team including team manager Mike Greci. Scott Zipadelli a veteran crew chief is in his first year at HRE.
” It feels kind of old school to me. I am close with everybody in the shop and a lot of those guys I grew up around. (Mike) Greci I’ve known my whole life and Scott he is from around here so he gets it and knows the background I have come from and my family Its definitely a Northeast type of team. We all have thick skin just like most people up here because we grew up around it. We know how to give each other a lot of crap but we know how to take it too. I think that give us a lot of confidence in each other. I am not gonna hurt his feelings. He’s not gonna hurt mine which at the end of the day helps you make stronger.
Scott Zipadelli feels its pretty special for all of the Northeast guys to reconnect with the team.
” Everyone is working well together. There is probably a little shortcut because we kind of know each other’s personalities a little bit and knew our backgrounds and what can handle and couldn’t handle. Its been a lot of hard work on everybody’s part. Its been very gratifying and rewarding to bring this team as far as we have in a short period of time.” Zipadelli Said
The chemistry between Zipadelli and Truex has been great as they over or under communicate. Zipadelli can tell by his voice or personality.
” He has a lot of faith in us. Its been very easy to be honest with you for us to work well together. It hasn’t been any extra work or a lot of needs of what we have to do different to communicate so that’s been a big plus.” Zipadelli Said
His brother Martin, Jr has had a lot of success this year in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series winning his most recent race at Chicagoland Speedway.
” Its been awesome. I’ve personally seen all the work he has put into it and all the bad moments The ups and downs and to see him finally kind of overcome all that and get everything around he needed the right team, the crew chief, just everything the right car owner, manufacturer all that stuff. Once it finally all came together and they gelled. He’s proving how good he really is.” Truex Said
Martin, Jr’s advice Ryan for the good year he has had this year is to keep going. After missing the playoffs, it makes Truex want to win more and spoil the party the rest of the year for the playoff drivers.
” If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse. You can’t give up and you just got to keep digging deep and going for more.” Truex Said
Truex finished second in the race last week at New Hampshire. The series will head to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend where the race will be held on Saturday.
