Ryan Smith Battles For Top-Ten During Pete Jacobs Memorial At Wayne Co.

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / ALL STAR CIRCUIT OF CHAMPIONS – KUNKLETOWN, PA – Labor Day weekend was action packed for Kunkletown, Pennsylvania’s Ryan Smith, ultimately participating in three Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main events in two days at two different Ohio facilities.

When the dust settled on Sunday evening, Smith was just one position shy of earning three top-ten finishes in three consecutive starts, highlighting his weekend through the Buckeye State with a seventh place finish during the Pete Jacobs Memorial at Wayne County Speedway on Sunday, September 3.

“It was a pretty good weekend for our team. I’m proud of everyone involved,” Ryan Smith explained, pilot of the Tom and Sherry Leidig/Warko Group/Specialty Rigging/Rick’s Auto Body/Auto Electric of Jupiter, FL/No. 59. “Anytime you can show that much consistency in one weekend is special, especially when you are battling in a series point race. We have an important weekend ahead of us. I’m excited to head back home and race in front of a lot of our Pennsylvania fans this weekend at Port Royal Speedway.”

In addition to his top-ten performance during the $10,000-to-win Pete Jacobs Memorial, the “Kunkletown Kid” earned an eighth place finish during Attica Raceway Park’s Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket make-up feature contested on Saturday, September 2. All preliminary action was completed on June 16, but Mother Nature intervened just as A-main cars were in the staging lane. Smith earned a starting spot in the Speedweek program by winning his respective heat race.

Later that evening at Attica Raceway Park, Smith charged from 23rd on the feature grid to finish 11th during the Dirt Classic Ohio main event, utilizing an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions provisional starting position after finishing fifth during the evening’s B-main. There were 49 Arctic Cat All Stars on hand for the $10,000-to-win program.

Ryan Smith will continue his 2017 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a Port Royal Speedway doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, September 8-9. The 50th Annual Tuscarora 50 will headline competition at the Port Royal, Pennsylvania, “Speed Palace,” awarding $50,000 after 50 laps of green flag competition on Saturday evening, September 9. The weekend will launch officially with a full, Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions program awarding $5,000 on Friday evening, September 8.

Smith is certainly no stranger to big paying, high pressure instances at Port Royal Speedway. The former Posse representative gone All Star beat the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Port Royal Speedway in 2014 for $10,000.

The “Kunkletown Kid” will enter the weekend second in the Arctic Cat All Star championship chase, trailing defending Series champion, Chad Kemenah, by 394 markers.
