Caleb Armstrong displays success during Pete Jacobs Memorial
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / CALEB ARMSTRONG RACING – NEW CASTLE, IN – Caleb Armstrong’s Labor Day weekend campaign with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions was consistent; rattling off three consecutive top-15 finishes, one of which well inside the top-ten.
The New Castle, Indiana, native highlighted his long, holiday weekend with a hard charge from 12th to finish sixth during the annual Pete Jacobs Memorial at Wayne County (OH) Speedway on Sunday, September 3. Armstrong set the fastest time of the night during his respective qualifying group, soon followed by a third place finish during heat race competition, each setting the tone for his main event performance.
Armstrong kicked off his Labor Day weekend visit to the Buckeye State with a pair of 14th place finishes at Attica Raceway Park on Saturday, September 2; 14th during the Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket make-up feature, followed by a 14th place finish during the Dirt Classic Ohio, bettering most of the 49 entries.
“We had a lot of fun this weekend. I’m not sure we finished near our potential, but anytime you can show consistency like that is important,” Armstrong stated, pilot of the Baker Crop Insurance, Armstrong Farms, Neal Metal Recycling/No. 7C. “This is ‘crunch time’ for us. We want to gain as many points as possible over the next few weeks. Where we are at in the All Star point chance is respectable. We want to stay there.”
Caleb Armstrong will continue his 2017 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a pair of visits to the Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, on Friday and Saturday, September 8-9. The Central Pennsylvania “Speed Palace” will host the 50th edition of the Tuscarora 50 during the upcoming weekend, headlined with a 50-lap, $50,000-to-win main event on Saturday evening, September 9. Action will ignite on Friday evening with a $5,000-to-win program.
Armstrong will enter the weekend fourth in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase.
