‘Hard Clay Finale’ Short Track Super Series Special To Kick Off Eastern States Weekend

Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – MIDDLETOWN, NY – The 56th annual Eastern States Weekend ranks as the most historic dirt Modified event in the Northeast.

In 2017, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP kicks it all off.

The Behrent’s Performance Warehouse ‘Hard Clay Finale’ is set for Thursday, October 19 at Orange County Fair Speedway, launching a true ‘weekend of speed’ at the venerable five-eighths-mile oval.

The 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified event will bring down the curtain on the nine-race Halmar International North Region and a $12,500 champion will be crowned at the ‘Hard Clay’ that very night.

Points aside, the ‘Hard Clay Finale’ offers a tremendous purse structure totaling $30,000 before bonuses! The winner is guaranteed $5,000, with $1,000 for 10th and $500 to take the green flag. A field of 30 cars will take the green for the main event.

The ‘Hard Clay Finale’ is a prelude to the full Friday, Saturday and Sunday agenda at the Legendary House of Power.

Pit gates for the ‘Hard Clay Finale’ will officially open on October 19 at 3 p.m. Teams will be permitted to enter the facility beginning on Wednesday (October 18). A ‘Hard Clay Finale’ pit pass, however, will be required for entry in the pits beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Drive-in gates will be unlocked at 4 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m.

Cars will hit the track at approximately 5:45 p.m., with the first heat race rolling off at 6:30 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $25 for Adults, $23 for Seniors and $5 for Kids 12 and under. Reserved seats (Rows H-O of the covered grandstand) are available for $30 by calling the speedway at 845.342.2573.

Pit admission is $35 with no license required.

Street Stocks, under Orange County rules, will complete the doubleheader racing for $200 to win (no car entry fee).
