Short Track Super Series, King Of Dirt Sportsman Heading To Albany-Saratoga

Story By: MATT KEITH / ALBANY-SARATOGA SPEEDWAY – MALTA, NY – Watch out race fans as “The Great Race Place” is about to get stampeded. “The Stampede at the Toga” will take place this Tuesday, August 15, as Brett Deyo’s “Short Track Super Series fueled by VP” invades the historic Malta oval for the first time in series history.

The Modifieds will run 50 green flag laps paying $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green. The event is being sponsored by Halmar International and Recovery Sports Grill.

The race is number six of nine in the North Region of the “Short Track Super Series.” Andy Bachetti holds a seven point lead over Stewart Friesen with Billy Decker eight points behind Bachetti.

An added twist to the event is that Modifieds have the option of using sail panels and the option of running either American racer or Hoosier Tires. In addition to the Modifieds, the Sportsman will run a 30-lap “King of the Dirt” Sportsman Series event. The race will pay $1,000 to the winner and $100 to start. The event is the fourth of eight in the Sportsman Series. The Series will make a second visit to Albany-Saratoga on September 8, 2017.

Rocky Warner holds an eight point lead in the series over Chad Edwards. Michael Sabia is 11 points back and Connor Cleveland is just 13 points behind. For more information on the “King of the Dirt Series” log onto www.kingofthedirtracing.com

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under. Pit admission is $30 with or without a license. The rain date for the event is the following evening, Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
