Marks Bounces Back In North Dakota WoO Sprint Events
Story By: ANTHONY CORINI / BRENT MARKS RACING – RAPID CITY, SD – After a frustrating first two nights in North Dakota, Brent Marks piloted his No. 19 to a tenth-place finish at Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND Sunday evening. The result was Marks’ 15th top-ten finish in his rookie season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
“This year has been full of ups and downs for our team. It’s tough to get too discouraged because we know we are new at this gig. We just have to stay motivated and keep plugging away,” Marks explained, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/ Eagle Hotel/No. 19.
Friday night, Marks and his three-man team made a return visit to the River Cities Speedway, where Marks came forward from 21st to eighth earlier this year, but were greeted with lingering mechanical issues ending their night prematurely. The following night, Marks and his team made their inaugural visit to the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. Marks finished second in the Last Chance Showdown, lining him up 20th in the Feature. Marks worked his way forward before a competitor in front of him clipped the wall, flipped and left Brent with nowhere to go. Brent was uninjured in the accident, but it ended his night early once again.
The beauty of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule is the opportunity to rebound and that is what Marks did the following night at Nodak. Marks transferred through his heat race, started 15th in the Feature and came forward for a strong top-ten finish.
After a few days off, Marks will return to action with this weekend at yet another pair of new racetracks. Friday night Marks and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will be in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the Black Hills Speedway before making the trek to Billings, Montana, to compete at the BMP Speedway Saturday evening. It will be the first time Marks, currently sitting 12th in the point standings in his rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws, has competed at either facility.
