Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRENT MARKS RACING – KNOXVILLE, IA – In attempt to qualify for the nation’s premier sprint car event, the “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks will tackle the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Thursday, August 10; his qualifying night for the 57th Annual 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals.

With a total purse nearing $1,000,000, the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals will headline action at the Sprint Car Capital of the World from Wednesday, August 9, until Saturday, August 12. Like many of the world’s finest sprint car aces, Marks will work to etch his name in sprint car racing history by snagging the $150,000 top prize up for grabs on Saturday evening.

The Myerstown, Pennsylvania, native is a recent Knoxville Nationals A-main qualifier, finishing 17th during the 50-lapper in 2015.

“We’ve been in this position before,” Marks said, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19. “I’ve been fortunate enough to qualify for the Knoxville Nationals A-main, so our goal is to do it again. It’s an experience of a lifetime.”

Brent Marks will enter the 57th Annual 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals in the midst of his first ever season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. The Rookie of the Year contender is currently 11th in the championship standings, earning 14 top-ten finishes thus far in 2017, one of which inside the top-five; charging from 15th to fourth on Friday, July 28, at Hartford (MI) Speedway.

“We’ve been having a solid season. Things haven’t been easy, but I’m proud of what we have been accomplishing,” Marks said. “I have a hard working team and I appreciate what they do for me. I wouldn’t be here without them. The plan is to make the most of this weekend and get ourselves in that A-main on Saturday night.”

During his most recent World of Outlaws start, Brent Marks finished 11th after starting 17th during the Ironman 55 preliminary at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on Friday, August 4.
