Great Early Run Goes South For Chad Pierce Sunday At Lebanon Valley

Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / CP RACING – EAGLE BRIDGE, NY – When you have a good car, you just know it. Sunday evening at Lebanon Valley, Chad Pierce knew his car was fast.

After starting in the 26th position, Chad and the H. Sausville Construction, Battenkill Valley Electric, Cam’s Kitchen #83 was marching towards the front, getting as high as 15th early on. That was when the former track champion noticed that the water temperature gauge read zero.

“I didn’t want to lose a lot of water out of the engine,” he said. I wasn’t sure if it had cooled down enough during the early cautions, but honestly, didn’t want to chance having an issue with the motor so we called it a night.”

Being that it was show up points for the regular 358-Modified points chase, there was no reason to risk motor problems. However, the car was moving through the field and Chad had a good feeling about how it would finish.

“This thing really had good drive in the feature,” he said. “We hit on the setup for the way track conditions were, and I truly believe could have gotten a top 10 finish. That would have been great for our team to move up that many spots, but in the long run, it wouldn’t have been worth it if we lost the engine.”

Now on to the next race. Chad still sits twelfth in 358-Modified track points, just 17 markers behind tenth-place runner Frank Hoard III.

The next event for the team will be this Saturday at Lebanon Valley Speedway when it’s Appreciation night for all Fire, EMS and Police officers in attendance. Gates open at 5pm.
