Gilardi Motorsports Pushing Forward After Frightening Crash Saturday At Lebanon Valley

Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / GILARDI MOTORSPORTS – PITTSFIELD, MA – In one of the hardest hits of his career, Paul Gilardi’s Saturday night at Lebanon Valley came to an end after just one lap was completed in his heat race with a vicious hit to the turn one wall.

Unfortunately, the accident destroyed the Superior Seamless Gutters #87x HigFab Chassis. However, Paul walked away with only bumps and bruises.

“The car in front of me got loose and hit us in the right rear,” Gilardi said. “I thought we were okay. I shook the car back and forth to see as I went down the front stretch, but unfortunately when we hit, it broke a brake line in the right rear and I had no way of stopping. That was a hard one for sure.”

The team has since gone to work to get their back-up machine ready for action. That car is a 2011 Bicknell chassis that Paul won the Maynard Forrette Memorial at Lebanon Valley with in 2014. It’s a proven piece.

“The back-up is a good car for sure,” he said. “I just hate that we lost the HigFab (Chassis). That was a great car and hopefully some of the things we learned with it we can transfer to the Bicknell”

With his troubles Saturday, Paul now sits 17th in Modified points at the Valley. The next event for the team will be this Saturday for Fire, EMS and Police Appreciation night. Gates open at 5pm.
