ESS Swings Back Into Action This Weekend At Ohsweken & Canandaigua

Story By: DEAN REYNOLDS / EMPIRE SUPER SPRINTS – SYRACUSE, NY – The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) took a few weeks off after a very successful CNY Speedweek and now are geared up for the stretch drive of the 2017 season.

This weekend the winged warriors will travel to the Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada on Friday and then back to the States for the annual visit at Canandaigua Motorsports Park during Watkins Glen Weekend on Saturday.

Ohsweken will be a vital part to the 1000 Islands RV Centre Canadian Tour as well as a tune up for the lucrative Canadian Sprint Car Nationals held in Sept.

The ESS full point event is always a fun stop as it pits the very best the 35 year old traveling organization against the stout weekly competitors from the Glenn Styres owned speedplant.

Jason Barney and Coleman Gulick have been a top the point standings since the start of the year. Barney leads the overall point title fight with Gulick heading the Canadian points. Both will be on hand along with many other top ESS stars such as Paul Kinney, Matt Tanner, Matt Billings, Paulie Colagiovanni, Steve Poirier, Jeff Cook, Shawn Donath, Brett Wright, Chad Miller, Dave Axton, Alex Vigneault and more.

Reading for the invasion will be Styres himself along with Dylan Westbrook, Jim Huppunen, Mitch Brown, Cory Turner, Jake Brown, Ryan Turner, Mickey Kruchka, Tyler Hendricks, Jamie Turner, Streve Lyons, Lee Winger and many more.

Heats pay $100 to win thanks to Club 54 Tobacco Racing and thanks to Ackland Insurance Agency for sponsor the Cobra Coaches Dash.

On Saturday will be the third visit to the Land of Legends for a $2,000 to win event where points will also be awarded for the NAPA Auto Parts US Tour. All of the ESS stars will trek back across the border and will be joined by others.

Speedweek champ Danny Varin, Jonathan Preston, Brandon Kidd, Sammy Reakes IV, Dylan Swiernik, Steve Doell, Darryl Ruggles, Josh Flint, Erk Karlsen, Lee Sanders and more will help fill the pits. Danny Willmes Enterprises will be sponsoring the dash on this night and he also sponsors the lap leader points with Barney leading Gulick and Tanner coming into this weekend.
