Great Finishes At Two Tracks Have Rob Maxon’s Stock Rising
Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / MAXON RACING – POWNAL, VT – Rob Maxon and the Dane’s Auto Parts #96 team went into this past weekend looking for solid finishes at Lebanon Valley and the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. By the time things were over on Sunday evening, they got what they wanted.
Saturday at the Valley of Speed, Rob started in the 10th position and from the drop of the green moved towards the front. The Pownal, VT driver was on the gas from lap one and as the 30-lap King of Dirt Sportsman feature concluded, Maxon was sitting fifth.
“I really feel like we had the car to beat tonight,” Maxon said. “Unfortunately, we had a bad redraw and that put us back farther then we had hoped. We ended up using up our right rear tire trying to get to the front, but I’m happy.”
Maxon was quick to thank his team for their hard work Saturday at the Valley.
“Right now, our standard rack Bicknell is really working well for us at Lebanon Valley, and that’s all due to the hard work of my crew,” he said. “We’ve changed a lot on our other car which seems to be working well at Glen Ridge on Sunday nights. That just goes to show the determination of this team.”
On Sunday at the Ridge, even with carburetor troubles during the feature, Maxon was able to bring his car home in the tenth position.
“We were lucky to get a top 10 even with the carburetor problems,” he said. “I really like racing at Glen Ridge. It’s definitely challenging.”
It’s that difficulty which makes a good run at the Ridge so gratifying.
“The first time I ran there, after the heat race, I couldn’t feel my left hand and my arm was pumping pretty bad,” he said. “It reminded me of racing dirt bikes again. I drive one-handed so it’s teaching me to use two hands. You’re always up on the wheel.”
The next race for Maxon Racing will be this coming Sunday night at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. To stay up-to-date on all things about Rob, the Maxon Racing team and their marketing partners, be sure to follow the team on Facebook (www.facebook.com/MaxonRacing).
