Last season, in the only appearance at the track — which was the season-opener — Jacob Dore captured the glory by winning the race in his No. 05. Dore held off Barry Gray and Glenn Martell in the final circuits to take down the first race of the 2016 season. The strong run for Gray helped him get his championship season off on the right foot.

In the only other two events for the GSPSS at White Mountain, Brad Babb and Derek Griffith visited Victory Lane. The inaugural race saw a great battle between Babb and Jeremy Davis in the final laps.

Heading into this race, a tight points battle has Scott MacMichael just two points ahead of Mike O’Sullivan. Defending series champion Barry Gray, who has been struggling this season, still sits third, just 17 points from the lead. With the struggles Gray has been having, a solid run could still put him right in the thick of things.

Rookie of the Year contender Nick Lascuola is fourth and Cory Casagrande rounds out the top five at this point in the season. Inside the top five, only two drivers have won races on the series.

All of these drivers chasing the championship and more will be in action on Saturday. Mike Mitchell returns to the series, while Jeremy Davis and Luke Hinkley are also back looking to score victories. Hinkley came close to winning this year’s event at Claremont, but ended up second after a fight with Tommy O’Sullivan.

Other entries for the race include Wyatt Alexander, Ryan Green, Todd Stone, Devin O’Connell and Phil Richardson. More drivers are also expected to chase the checkered flag in the 100-lap feature.

This will be a one-day event, with practice, qualifying and the 100-lap feature all scheduled for Saturday. Pit gates open at 1 p.m., with practice rotation getting underway at 3 p.m. The heat racing begins at 6 p.m. with feature action to follow.

Admission to the front gate for fans is just $20, while kids under the age of 11 are just $2 to get into the gate. Pit fees for those without a license are $40.
