RoC Pays Tribute To Patsy & Joe Catalano At Spencer This Friday

Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – WILLIAMSON, NY – The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco will make its second stop at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., on Friday, July 21 for a 75-lap race that will pay tribute to Patsy and Joe Catalano. The Catalano brothers were involved in racing at Spencer for many years and their legacy continues to this day.

Dave Catalano, who prepares the cars for his wife and his son, comes from a racing family. Dave’s Father Patsy and his Uncle Joe, played integral roles in the development of the families racing tradition and their deep roots in the racing history at Spencer Speedway. Amy Catalano and her son Tommy Catalano are full-time competitors on the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series and both share a passion for racing and its history.

“We are a racing family,” explained Amy Catalano. “This is what our family does and we truly enjoy it. It has been ten years since they have passed and we thought this would be a great way to honor them at a facility that has meant so much to all of us. We are looking forward to a great night that honors them.”

The lap money will be distributed based on draw per lap to those cars running in the top 15 positions. The minimum lap sponsorship began at $40 but several laps sold for much more with 29 laps paying $50 or more with lap 30 paying $540 and lap 54 paying $754 right now with contributions still being posted. Laps are still being sold for this race. Brainard Transport has also posted a $100 Hard Charger Award for the race.

The gates open at 5:00 pm at Spencer Speedway for fans with racing to follow at 7:00 pm.
