Marks Charges Hard At Eldora; Lernerville’s Silver Cup On Deck

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRENT MARKS RACING – ROSSBURG, OH – An Ohio swing consisting of four separate programs over a five-day span ended well for World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender Brent Marks.

Marks, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19, earned a top-ten finish, as well as two KSE Hard Charger Awards during his travels throughout The Buckeye State, highlighting the entire weekend by qualifying for the $50,000-to-win, Kings Royal A-main on Saturday evening at Eldora Speedway.

Marks finished sixth during Brad Doty Classic competition at Attica Raceway Park on Tuesday, July 11, to open his most recent Ohio visit, followed up with 12th, 13th and 23rd place finishes during three consecutive Kings Royal starts at Eldora Speedway on July 13-15. The 12th and 13th place performances resulted in KSE Hard Charger Awards, starting 24th and 25th, respectively.

“It was a great weekend for us. We obviously have the ability to pass cars. What we have to do now is capitalize on our qualifying efforts and put ourselves in better positions for the heat races,” Brent Marks explained. “It was a great effort by everyone involved this weekend at Attica and Eldora. We get to spend a few extra days at home this week while we race at Lernerville and Williams Grove. I’m excited to spend a few nights in my own bed.”

Brent Marks will continue his 2017 campaign with the Greatest Show On Dirt with a four-race swing throughout areas of Pennsylvania and New York, this time visiting three tracks in two states over a six-day time span for four separate events. The “Myerstown Missile” will begin his travels east with the $25,000-to-win, 26th Annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday, July 18.

Continuing further east, as well as closer to home, the Myerstown native will follow the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series back to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the two-day Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals on Friday and Saturday, July 21-22. Marks finished 13th during the 2016 edition of the Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals, climbing forward from 23rd on the main event grid. The 30-lap, Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals finale will award $20,000.

The upcoming week will conclude on Sunday evening, July 23, with a trip to the Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, New York; the first and only appearance by the Greatest Show On Dirt in 2017.

Brent Marks will enter World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition on Tuesday night 11th in the World of Outlaws driver championship standings. Including his recent sixth place finish at Attica Raceway Park, Marks has 12 top-ten finishes on the season and is a mere-24 points outside of the top-ten in the championship standings.
