How Much Is At Stake Sunday Night At Big Diamond?

Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – MINERSVILLE, PA – How much is at stake this Sunday (July 16) at Big Diamond Speedway? The list goes on…

For the only time in 2017, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP hosts a combined point event, featuring the stars of both the Halmar International North Region and Velocita-USA South Region for the potent big-block/small-block Modifieds.

Within a single, hotly contested 50-lap feature, drivers will be locked into chases for the $12,500 STSS North Region title and the $10,000 STSS South Region championships. Last year, more than $60,000 in total was distributed at the STSS Awards Banquet!

Then, there is the race itself! With $5,000 going to the winner, the bulk of the $25,700 pay structure is reserved for drivers placing throughout the field. A 10th-place finish in this event is worth $1,000, with $400 just to take the green flag.

Additional cash and product bonuses will be distributed from many of the nation’s top manufacturers.

Due to the rain-marred first half of the season, Big Diamond competitors in the Modified and Sportsman divisions are in a race to collect points toward the lucrative American Racer Cup by Sunoco year-end awards (that battle ends on Labor Day weekend). Both Sunday’s features for Modifieds and Sportsman will count toward the Cup standings.

For the Sportsman, there is more: Sunday’s Big Diamond event offers bonus points toward the Insinger Performance Regional South Region battle of the Cup. The winner receives 25 points, with a one-point increment drop-off through the field. Insinger Performance Regional bonus money is paid out in addition to the overall fund. In the South Region, where Big Diamond is located, the top-five Sportsman drivers will earn the following extra cash: $500-$400-$300-$200-$100.

Big Diamond’s event on Sunday is just one of two events all season granting bonus points toward the American Racer Cup Insinger Performance regional battles.

The STSS Sportsman mini-series points will also be awarded, as the third leg of the 2017 schedule!

Joining the STSS Modifieds and Sportsman on the card are the popular, full-fender Roadrunners (offering Big Diamond weekly points).

Rules, prices, times and general information for the ‘Anthracite Assault’ have been posted on the STSS website: http://bdmotorsportsmedia.com/anthracite-assault-rules-prices-general-info/
