Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TJ MICHAEL MOTORSPORTS – FREMONT, OH – Despite a few minor setbacks, one the result of a vicious crash at Waynesfield Raceway Park, T.J. Michael displayed success during his 2017 Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket campaign, recording main event starts during three contested A-mains, highlighted with top-15 finishes at Wayne County Speedway and Sharon Speedway on June 19-20, respectively. Michael’s Ohio Sprint Speedweek campaign was highlighted with a 12th place finish at Wayne County Speedway, charging forward from 26th on the grid after using an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions provisional.
“When all said and done, it wasn’t a bad Speedweek for our team,” T.J. Michael said. “Unfortunately, we got banged up at Waynesfield, so we decided it was in my best interest not to race at Muskingum County on Thursday. Regardless, I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish. We’ve been finding speed with this new car. Hopefully we can keep this going throughout the rest of the summer.”
T.J. Michael will continue his sophomore season with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday and Saturday, June 30 and July 1, with visits to Kokomo (IN) Speedway and Wayne County (OH) Speedway. The Plano, Texas, native who now resides in Fremont, Ohio, will enter the Indiana/Ohio double sixth in the current Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions standings, less than 200 points outside of the top-five.
“I can’t thank my team enough for their hard work during the last week or so,” Michael explained, pilot of the Michael Motorsports/Advanced Cast Stone/Fremont Fence Company/Kear’s Speed Shop/Shell Shock/Hinchman Suits/Big D’s Pizza of Fremont and Clyde/No. 8M. “Ohio Sprint Speedweek is demanding to say the least. It takes a lot of dedication and work ethic to pull it off. I appreciate my team’s hard work.”
