Stewart To Run Atomic’s Open Wheel Championships With All Stars
Story By: BRAD MCCOWN / ATOMIC SPEEDWAY – CHILLICOTHE, OH – Three-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart will visit Chillicothe, Ohio’s Atomic Speedway on August 25-26, set to do battle with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, as well as the Ohio Sprint Car Series, during the Third Annual Open Wheel Championships.
The multi-day program, officially igniting on Thursday, August 24, with an AMRA Modified and AMRA Sport Modified program, will award a $5,000 top prize on Friday, August 25, followed by a $10,000 top prize on Saturday, August 26; the final Arctic Cat All Star visit to Atomic Speedway in 2017.
Stewart, a former Arctic Cat All Star main event winner, will face-off against some of the nation’s best during Open Wheel Championships weekend including defending Arctic Cat All Star champion Chad Kemenah and former Chili Bowl Midget Nationals champion Rico Abreu.
“We are more than excited to have Tony Stewart join us during the Open Wheel Championships,” Brad McCown stated, promoter of Atomic Speedway. “Tony is a living legend. Our fans will have the opportunity to watch him race head-to-head with some of the best sprint car drivers in the country. This event is slowly working up the ladder as one of the premier events in Ohio. This just made things even bigger.”
In addition to a pair of Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions programs during Open Wheel Championships weekend, the AMRA Modifieds, AMRA Sport Modifieds, Racesaver 305 Sprint Cars, and the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (B.O.S.S.) non-wing sprint cars will also join-in on the weekend agenda.
