Ryan Smith Drives Into Weekend With Positive Momentum
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RYAN SMITH RACING – KUNKLETOWN, PA – During perhaps the most grueling segment of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions season, the “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith displayed a near-perfect example of consistency, ending his nine-day Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket campaign fifth in the final Speedweek championship standings, earning four top-ten finishes during the six events contested.
Smith highlighted Ohio Sprint Speedweek with a pair of sixth place performances at Sharon Speedway and Muskingum County Speedway on Tuesday and Thursday, June 20 & June 22, respectively.
“We had a great Speedweek. I can’t thank my crew enough for their help and dedication in making our week so successful,” Ryan Smith stated. “There were a few occasions where we could have set ourselves up a little bit better, but all in all, we had a great effort. We are already looking forward to next year.”
In addition to his pair of sixth place performances, Smith cashed in for a seventh place finish at Eldora Speedway; ninth at Wayne County Speedway after starting 24th on the feature grid; 11th at Atomic Speedway after starting 23rd; and 22nd at Waynesfield Raceway Park. Smith’s Ohio Sprint Speedweek consistency proved vital in the overall Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase, climbing from third to second in the championship standings by the conclusion of Speedweek, now trailing defending Series champion Chad Kemenah by 258 markers.
Ryan Smith will continue his Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a pair of events on Friday and Saturday, June 30 and July 1. The Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, native will join “America’s Series” at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, to kick-off the weekend on Friday, June 30, followed by his third appearance at Wayne County Speedway near Orrville, Ohio, on Saturday, July 1.
In addition, Ryan Smith will substitute for the injured Doug Esh in the Coldren Motorsports/No. 07 during select Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek events; only events not interfering with his Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions commitments.
“We have a few days to regroup and reset before heading back out on the road,” Smith explained. “We look forward to visiting Kokomo, as well as Wayne County. This entire racing partnership provides me with the equipment necessary to be successful. Our goal is to take advantage of every lap we are on the race track for the rest of the season and hopefully close the gap on Kemenah.”
Smith will enter the Indiana/Ohio double with 12 top-ten finishes on the season during Arctic Cat All Star competition, four of which inside the top-five.
