Maresca Ready To Bounce Back From Outlaw Speedway Tumble
Story By: CLAYTON JOHNS / REZ X RACING – POTSDAM, NY – Mike Maresca is eager to bounce back from a tough wreck on Tuesday night with the Super DIRTcar Series at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY. On his first time trial lap, Maresca’s car dug into a hole at the bottom of the track in turn three and flipped wildly towards the top of turn four before coming to rest. Maresca was uninjured, but the car was destroyed, preventing him from entering any further action on the night.
Maresca isn’t sure exactly how the accident happened or what he felt from the car before the flipped, only that it happened quickly before he had a chance to react and recover.
Earlier in the week at Devil’s Bowl (VT) Speedway, Maresca competed in Small-Block Modified action with the King of Dirt Series and gained valuable track time. Last Wednesday, he was in action at Albany-Saratoga Speedway for the first time ahead of next week’s Super DIRTcar Series event. Maresca earned an 11th-place finish.
The accident isn’t going to slow down Maresca and his Rez X Racing team any further, however. Maresca will be back in the season for weekly competition tonight at Mohawk International Raceway. The team will then head to Fonda Speedway on Saturday, June 24 for Big-Block Modified competition before travelling to Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Tuesday, June 27 for Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 9.
