Feature Line-Up: Lombardo Motorsports – Hough Lends A Helping Hand To LJ
Column By: MIKEY ALBREADA / LOMBARDO MOTORSPORTS – DANBURY, CT – Tuesday night, at Brett Hearn’s Big Show 9 was a huge night for LJ Lombardo.
LJ qualified for the race over some of the top name drivers there. After starting the race 19th and on the move to the front quickly, his night came to an unfortunate ending as he had to pull in on lap 25 due to motor issues.
LJ quickly wrote on Facebook after leaving the track that they’re looking for a miracle.
“The empty quarter panel says how low of a budget we are running on this year,” he said. “We have one car, one motor, no backup. When something like this happens we’re done. All our sponsors are doing as much as they can to keep us racing this season.”
Fellow Lebanon Valley competitor Steve Hough immediately called LJ to help him out. Hough is lending LJ his extra motor to run on the Valley high banks until LJ can get his motor fixed and back running in the 35 car.
LJ, being 10th in Big Block points, was overjoyed and thanked Steve so much for this opportunity.
Hough was glad to help out.
“I want to help people,” he said. “I see the talent and potential LJ has and what he needs.”
LJ’s car owner, and father, Lew Lombardo, was overwhelmed by the support his team has gotten since Tuesday night.
“On behalf of LJ and the entire 35 team, I want to personally thank everyone who’s come to our aid,” Lew said. “I can’t say enough about Steve Hough, Garcia Motorsports, Fyne Line Building, Muckle Motorsports, and all our other sponsors and crew who did everything they could to help us get back on the track for this weekend.”
LJ is looking forward to getting back out on the track this weekend and work to move up in points standings.
