Ed McGuire To Be Honored At RoC Event In Jennerstown

Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – JENNERSTOWN, PA – The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco will honor one of its long time car owners this Saturday night when the Series makes it first visit to the beautiful Jennerstown Speedway in Western Pennsylvania.

Ed McGuire of Rome, Pa., who owns McGuire Motorsports has been one of the longest running car owners in the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series division. McGuire, who currently fields a car for T.J. Potrzebowski of Elmira, N.Y., has a history with racing at Jennerstown during his long career. McGuire is a former feature winner and competitor at Jennerstown.

“When this race was announced we circled it on the schedule as Ed (McGuire) became extremely excited about it, he loves Jennerstown and has a history there,” explained Potrzebowski, who won the 2006 Race of Champions, where McGuire played a major role in his victory. “Ed has done so much for the division and helped so many drivers along the way. I am honored and proud to drive for him and his team. The McGuire’s are all about Modified racing and Saturday at Jennerstown will be extremely special to honor Ed. He loves Jennerstown and it’s going to be great to go there and race for him and salute him there with the race being named in his honor.”

Potrzebowski has piloted one of McGuire’s machines on the Race of Champions Series for the past several seasons.

“Ed has been like a second Father to me,” continued Potrzebowski. “He has taught me so many things in life, in addition to letting me drive his racecars and he’s helped make me a better business man. He’s a true and honest man as well as a great friend and mentor. He once told me that it was too bad we didn’t meet each other earlier in life because who knows what we would have accomplished when we were both younger. I am honored to have Ed as a car owner, mentor and most importantly friend.”

The Jennerstown Speedway event will also have their Saturday night divisions in action; Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Fast 4’s and Chargers. Pre-sale event tickets are now available through the Jennerstown Speedway website (www.jennerstown.org) for just $20.
